Mr Melvyn Adams

It is with deep regret that we have learnt of the death of Mr Melvyn Adams. Melvyn was a great friend of Lobb Fields; he first came to the site aged 17 in 1965. Since then he was a regular visitor, keeping his caravan in storage and visiting many times over the years.
He made a lot of very good friends who will miss him greatly, as indeed will the staff here at Lobb. He was one of life's real gentlemen.
We send our deepest sympathy to his family.

LOBB NEWS

New Wardens
We are delighted to welcomeTerry and Enid, who have now joined Mike and Melissa. The team is now complete and are just waiting for you all, and a bit of sun!

Internet facilities,The Ark
We now have Internet facilities available for our customers. We have put together an excellent room with three PCs connected via Reception to the Internet; you will be able to access both the Internet and your emails on site. We have called the room The Ark; it should be useful on rainy days but of course 2008 is going to be glorious and sunny!

The Weather at Lobb Fields
Well, we were correct in what we wrote concerning the Easter weather. We saw quite a lot of sun although the temperature stayed cold for that time of the year. The forecasters' prediction, as is frequently the case, was much worse than it actually was on the day.
As you may be aware this area of North Devon, to be more accurate a two mile wide strip running from Westward Ho! to llfracombe, has its own micro climat
e; if you look at the rainfall map of the British Isles you will notice that this little area has the same rainfall as parts of East Anglia. We will normally have a fine day at Lobb when showers are predicted for the West Country.
The Early May Bank holiday weather was getting better but at least the surf was very good; certainly those who came for the water sports had a really great time whlst the sun-bathers did not do quite so well!
The Spring so far has been dismal which we all think normally precedes a lovely summer; let us hope we are right.
But at times it has been wonderful already! See below:

Arrivals at busy times
Whilst our new computerised system has much improved the rate of booking in during busy times we have been giving a lot of thought to speed up access by our clients onto their pitches. This is not possible to achieve as some work has to be done to prepare the pitches for the new arrivals. However we have devised a system whereby those arriving early can book in and then temporarily park their caravans until their pitch is ready. Thus they will then be able to go away to the beach, or wherever they want, and return later during the day to move onto their pitch. Naturally if the pitch is free when they arrive they will be able to move straight on. We will see how it works and if need be do some fine tuning
