LOBB NEWS
VAT increase to 20%, but not for Lobb Fields
As all our friends will be aware the government has increased VAT from 17.5% to 20%. Lobb Fields is well aware of the difficult times that lie ahead for all of us.
Naturally certain prices will need to increase in order to keep in line with inflation. However the Directors have had a long and hard look at the Company’s finances for this season. We believe that everyone needs holidays and we have now made provisions to absorb the VAT increase within the company. We hope this action of ours will make a bit of difference to our friends and we look forward to happy and sunny (!) holidays for you all in 2011.

We have built a new Ark and it is called The Hutch!
The Weather at Lobb Fields
We ask all our friends to please read this as again several did not come this Easter two years ago because of the poor forecast. If you do have doubts about the weather do please give us a ring first and we will tell you what we honestly think. We may not always be right but I think we will be better than many of the experts!
As you may be aware this area of North Devon, to be more accurate a two mile wide strip running from Westward Ho! to llfracombe, has its own micro climate; if you look at the rainfall map of the British Isles you will notice that this little area has the same rainfall as parts of East Anglia. We will normally have a fine day at Lobb when showers are predicted for the West Country.
Facebook
When we sent round our new brochure in January we mentioned in the accompanying letter that we were thinking of starting a Lobb Facebook. Well Ruth Simkins has already put one together under the name of ‘I love Lobb Fields’ which she has kindly agreed that we may use. So if anyone would like to join simply log on to Facebook and do a search for 'I love Lobb Fields'
One of the reasons we are setting one up is for you to utilise it as a quick decision-making process for last minute visits of friends to Lobb when good surf and sunshine look likely. If it is helpful Chris is more that happy to put up at regular intervals the state of the surf and weather. She can also help with pitch availability.
Anyway do join and give it a try; also if you have any other ideas as to how we might use it in a better and more useful way please let us know. |
LOBB LIVE SURFING KIT SHOPPING
Equipment on Site
The Surf Store will open for the season, run by Vaughn; we hope this will make your holiday equipment planning easier. So have a look at the Surf Store page which will be subject to regular updates, or at his web site When you have hired your board from Vaughn, and if you need lessons, you should visit the good and effective Surf South West Surf School at Croyde; have a look at the School's web site to see all that is on offer.
But it all gets better. New this year is Vaughn's next project, 'Glamping' at Lobb Fields. Vaughn has started a new business of providing at very reasonable cost a pre-erected bell tent fully equipped and cosily furnished. Thus no more cramped cars overfilled with kit; you can just turn up, move straight into your new holiday home, relax and put your feet up. Life becomes better and better!
Now this is Vaughn; surely he looks the perfect man to trust, and from whom anyone would confidently buy or hire surfboards, and even luxury tents?!
Food on Site
This year it will be Alan's Sub Shacks, same Shack and same Manager; go to www.lobbfieldssubshack.webs.com/ and have a look. He will provide even better and popular facilities at Lobb Fields; excellent food of your choice at very competitive prices. For our guests it is no effort, no cooking and no washing up!
Ask to see his exciting new menus.
Shopping in Braunton
Surfing For surfing shopping enthusiasts there is the well established Tiki International; the shop is in the middle of Braunton and the factory at the end of South Street. They both have excellent kit to buy or hire; www.tikisurf.co.uk is their web address. For action Surf South West provides great instruction; see for yourselves at www.surfsouthwest.com .
Car Parking
There is now a small charge for parking in the Braunton Car Park but of course it does mean that almost invariably there is space to park which will make your shopping so much easier

Wedding The latest News
Great news! There will be (there has been) a wedding this year, using Lobb Fields as the focal point for the event. It will take (has taken) place on Friday 10 June 2011. The background story.
The happy couple
are:
Paul and Louisa, live in Nuneaton, Warwickshire with their two chickens Bluebell and Tallulah. They recently bought their dream home and are making it official by getting married.
Louisa works as an Events Organiser and although she has been fortunate to stay in some wonderful places across the world she is really a happy camper at heart. Paul loves his creature comforts and is rarely seen separated from his laptop and Sky Remote so although he took a little more convincing to the joys of camping he has been slowly won round by lots of wonderful holidays to Lobb Fields.
Having had many happy visits staying with us they decided that Lobb Fields should feature prominently in the arrangements for their Big Day.
The wedding ceremony will take (has taken) place in the Braunton Parish Church and the reception is going to be (has been) held in a lovely local house with stunning views over North Devon. Many of their guests will be staying (have stayed) with us during that time.
Although it did rain it was still a lovely and happy day. We all wish them a
wonderful married life. |
