We all know that dogs are just as much as part of the family as all the people in it! That’s why we welcome your pooch at Lobb Fields Caravan and Camping Park, (well behaved ones please!)
We have our own dog walk for you to use which runs adjacent to the campsite and you are within easy reach of some stunning local beaches, many allowing dogs. In part one of our dog friendly beach guide, we focus on the immediate area to us. In fact, Saunton, just a mile away, is dog friendly all year round! A dogs paradise! (Assistance dogs are welcome on our beaches all year round)
Start your dog days out at saunton then follow the coast road round to discover many more gems!
Saunton – your dog is welcome all year round although leads must be used in the area in front of the beach huts. On the right-hand side of the beach is a long stretch of rocky walk which dogs love – loads of rock pools to splash around in. Saunton has lots of facilities including showers and surf shops and dining, (on the balcony with your dog) at The Beachside Grill and snacks at the Saunton beach Cafe, (don’t forget you can also buy snacks before you go from our onsite Snack shack, Truly Scrumptious)
The next village from Saunton is Croyde, a beautiful place with shops and great pubs and eateries. This is a short boarders heaven and is always very popular. If you visit Lobb Fields in early spring, you can take your dog to explore Croyde but on until April 30, it is out of bounds then until October 1.
The next stop a bit further on is Putsborough which is the next beach on from Croyde, allows dogs all year but, between Easter and November 1 you can’t use the far left of the beach as this is where it is most busy.
A bit further along the coast is the large seaside village of Woolacombe Bay. Here they have separate zones where dogs are only allowed at certain times of the year, (there is a sign at the entrance to the beach). Essentially, the busiest parts of the beach don’t allow dogs from April to November, but further up towards Putsborough you can have your dog on a lead and further up still they can run free!
Come back for part two, dog friendly beaches further afield, soon. In the meantime, please contact us is you have any questions abut bringing your pooch to stay with us.
